Be Still and Know

Be still and know that He is God
Be still and know that He is holy
Be still, O restless soul of mine
Bow before the Prince of peace
Let the noise and clamor cease
Be still

Be still and know that He is God
Be still and know that He is faithful
Consider all that he has done
Stand in awe and be amazed
And know that He will never change
Be still

Be still and know that he is God
Be still and know he is our Father
Come rest your head upon his breast
Listen to the rhythm of his unfailing heart of love
Beating for His little ones
Calling each of us to come
Be still

I Could Never Out Love the Lord

I COULD NEVER OUT LOVE THE LORD

1. There’ve been times when giving and loving brought pain,
And I promised I would never let it happen again,
But I found out that loving was well worth the risk
And that even in losing you win.

CHORUS:

I’m going to live the way He wants me to live,
I’m going to give until there’s just no more to give;
I’m going to love, love till there’s just no more love,
I could never, never out love the Lord.

2. He showed us that only thru dying we live,
And He gave when it seemed there was nothing to give;
He loved when loving brought heartache and loss,
He forgave from an old rugged cross.

CHORUS:

I’m going to live the way He wants me to live,
I’m going to give until there’s just no more to give;
I’m going to love, love till there’s just no more love,
I could never, never out love the Lord.

Tribute to the Bible

Billy Sunday’s Tribute to the Bible

Twenty-nine years ago, with the Holy Spirit as my guide, I entered the wonderful temple of Christianity. I entered at the portico of Genesis, walked down through the Old Testament art galleries where pictures of Noah, Abraham, Isaac Jacob, Joseph, Moses, and Daniel are hung on the wall.

I passed into the music room of Psalms where the Spirit swept the keyboard of my nature until it seemed that every reed and pipe of God’s great organ responded to the tuneful harp of David, the sweet singer of Israel.

I entered the chamber of Ecclesiastes where the voice of the preacher was heard, and into the conservatory of Sharon where the Lily of the Valley’s sweet-scented spices filled and perfumed my life.

I entered into the business office of Proverbs, and then into the observatory room of the prophets where I saw telescopes of various sizes pointed to far off events, but all concentrated on the Bright and Morning Star which is the King of Kings.

I caught a vision of His glory from the standpoint of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, and passed into the Acts of the Apostles where the Holy Spirit was doing His work in the formation of the infant Church. Then into the correspondence room where sat Paul, Peter, James and John penning their epistles.

I stepped into the throne room of Revelation, where towered the glittering peaks, and caught a vision of the King sitting upon the throne in all His glory. And I cried, “All hail the power of Jesus’ name! Let angels prostrate fall! Bring forth the royal diadem and crown Him Lord of all!”

Father Hear Your Children

In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him.: God is a refuge for us. Selah. … God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God. Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy: for thou renderest to every man according to his work. Psalm 62:7, 8, 11, 12

Every time I listen to this song it becomes my prayer and I “pray” (replay) it over and over because I love its simplicity, directness, and child-like trust and acceptance of the Solution.

The beautiful thing is that as you hear it you, too, can pray this prayer and allow your Father, God, to take you just as you are and make you pure. His mercy is sure.

Father, hear Your children call
Humbly at Your feet we fall
Prodigals, confessing all
To the cross we bring our blame
All our life-long sin and shame
Penitent, we breathe Your name
Penitent, we breathe Your name

By Your love, by Your grace
By the blood of Jesus wash our sins away
Make us new today
Hear us as we pray

We’re blind, but pray for eyes to see
Where we’re bound, Lord make us free
Stained, we plead for purity
Where we’re sick, apply Your cure
Take our guilt and make us pure
For Your mercy Lord, is sure
For Your mercy Lord, is sure

Lord, we have no other place to go
Only You can heal the wounding of our soul
Let forgiveness flow
Let forgiveness flow

Calvary’s Love

Having taken a survey of all that would be required of Him, Christ summed up the guilt to be cancelled. God’s wrath against sin and the punishment for sin must be exhausted. Christ gathered the entire responsibility to His heart, and bent His whole being to the task. He clothed His divinity with humanity and prepared Himself for the sword that was to smite Him as our substitute and surety. “Therefore doth My Father love Me,” He said, “because I lay down My life that I might take it again.” He was wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.—Manuscript 44, 1898, p. 3. (“The Pearl of Great Price,” undated.)

Calvary’s love will sail forever
Bright and shining, strong and free
Like an ark of peace and safety
On the sea of human need

Through the hours of all the ages
Those tired of sailing on their own
Finally rest inside the shadow
Cast by Calvary’s love across their souls

Chorus:
Calvary’s love, Calvary’s love
Priceless gift Christ makes us worthy of
The deepest sin can’t rise above
Calvary’s love

Calvary’s love can heal the Spirit
Life has crushed and cast aside
And redeem til Heaven’s promise
Fills with joy once empty eyes
So desire to tell His story
Of a love that loved enough to die
Burns away all other passions
And fed by Calvary’s love becomes a fire

Chorus

Calvary’s love has never faltered
All its wonders still remain
Souls still take eternal passage
Sins atoned and heaven gained
Sins forgiven and heaven gained

Psalm CVII (No. 1 & 2)

No. 1

THANK and praise Jehovah’s name
For his mercies, firm and sure,
For eternity the same
To eternity, endure
Let the ransom’d thus rejoice,
Gather’d out of every land,
As the people of his choice;
Pluck’d from the destroyer’s hand.

In the wilderness astray,
Hither, thither, while they roam,
Hungry, fainting by the way,
Far from refuge, shelter, home: —

Then unto the Lord they cry,
He inclines a gracious ear,
Sends deliverance from on high,
Rescues them from all their fear.

To a pleasant land He brings
Where the vine and olive grow,
Where from flowery hills the springs,
Through luxuriant valleys flow.

O that men would praise the Lord
For his goodness to their race;
For the wonders of his word,
And the riches of his grace!

No. 2

THEY that mourn in dungeon-gloom,
Bound in iron and despair,
Sentenced to a heavier doom
Than the pangs they suffer there; —

Foes and rebels once to God,
They disdain’d his high controul;
Now they feel his fiery rod
Striking terrors through their soul,

Wrung with agony they fall
To the dust, and gazing round,
Call for help; —in vain they call,
Help, nor hope, nor friend are found.

Then unto the Lord they cry,
He inclines a gracious ear,
Sends deliverance from on high,
Rescues them from all their fear.

He restores their forfeit-breath,
Breaks in twain their gates of brass;
From the bands and grasp of death,
Forth to liberty they pass.

O that men would praise the Lord,
For his goodness to their race;
For the wonders of his word,
And the riches of his grace!

Power in the Blood

It’s a fact that there is so much hurt, bad, and sadness right around us. Everywhere we turn, known and unknown evils reign. There’s human trafficking: Woman and children and men are treated by another human being like an animal. No, worse than animals. I don’t know them, but I frequently pray that that those innocent slaves are rescued from their pain. Broken families abound: Oh, the manipulation, the threats, the schemes, the heartache, the tears, the lies, the slander, the broken friendships, the poor children. Crimes of society: Regularly aired by ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, etc. Our vindictive hearts: Full of hatred, self-absorbed love, and alienation from our Creator. It’s a sad situation. We so need help! The cycle must end.

“To every Christian comes the word that was addressed to Peter, ‘Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: but I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not’ (Luke 22:31, 32). Thank God we are not left alone. This is our safety. Satan can never touch with eternal disaster one whom Christ has prepared for temptation by His previous intercession, for grace is provided in Christ for every soul, and a way of escape has been made, so that no one need fall under the power of the enemy.” That I May Know Him, 286

Power in the Blood

1. Would you be free from the burden of sin?
There’s pow’r in the blood, pow’r in the blood;
Would you o’er evil a victory win?
There’s wonderful pow’r in the blood.

* Refrain:
There is pow’r, pow’r, wonder-working pow’r
In the blood of the Lamb;
There is pow’r, pow’r, wonder-working pow’r
In the precious blood of the Lamb.

2. Would you be free from your passion and pride?
There’s pow’r in the blood, pow’r in the blood;
Come for a cleansing to Calvary’s tide;
There’s wonderful pow’r in the blood.

3. Would you be whiter, much whiter than snow?
There’s pow’r in the blood, pow’r in the blood;
Sin-stains are lost in its life-giving flow;
There’s wonderful pow’r in the blood.

4. Would you do service for Jesus your King?
There’s pow’r in the blood, pow’r in the blood;
Would you live daily His praises to sing?
There’s wonderful pow’r in the blood.

For the Living

IF you like a brother here,
Tell him so;
If you hold his friendship dear,
Let him know;
All the roses that you spread
On his bier when he is dead
Are not worth one kind word said
Years ago.

You can help a brother now
If you will
Smooth the furrows from his brow;
You can kill
The despair that’s in his heart
With a word, and ease the smart.
So why stand you now apart
Keeping still?

You can help a brother when
He is here;
He would hold your praises then
Very dear.
But absurdly still you stay
And withhold what you could say
That would cheer him on his way
For his bier.

What, I wonder, if the dead
Saw and heard
What is done and what is said
Afterward,
Would they utter in reply?
Would they smile and ask us why,
When the time to help was nigh,
No one stirred?

“Keep your roses for the living,”
They would say,
“Waste no time in praises giving
Us today;
Strew some living brother’s way so,
If you like another, say so,
For the thing that now you praise so
Is but clay.”

Praise You Just the Same

Now my life is beautiful; praise comes easy to me.
But I felt when all was darkness, for the truth was so hard to see

Oh, but, thank You for the trial, if it will bring me close to You
Help me, Lord, to smile, when things don’t go the way I’d want them to
If I suffer pain, help me, that I don’t complain, but
Thank you, Lord, and praise You just the same
I want to thank You, Lord, and praise You just the same

Help me to remember that even You were made to cry
But, Son of God, Redeemer, You knew You were not to reason why
When I feel like dying, help me that I don’t stop trying
But, thank You, Lord, and praise You just the same
I want to thank You, Lord, and praise You just the same.

And when I think of You upon that tree
I know that what You did, You did for me
And so until my days on earth are finally through
Wherever I am led I’ll fallow you
Jesus! My Jesus!

If I suffer pain, help me that I don’t complain
But thank You, Lord, and praise You just the same
I want to thank You, Lord, and praise You just the same

Praise Your holy name.
Praise Your holy name.
Praise Your holy name.
Praise Your holy name!
